The required investment will be 1/6 of the imported products, achieving quite fine transferring efficiency. The thermal efficiency of self-insulation of the cylinder is more than 70%, which improves the thermal efficiency by more than 50%. Its advantages also include reduced land occupation, free adjustment, low outlet temperature, long operating time, controllable thermal performance, simple operation and low coal consumption.

At present, most wood chip dryers are pneumatic dryer, fluidized bed dryer and rotary dryer, wherein the pneumatic dryer and rotary dryer are the most widely-used. Pneumatic dryer is lowest in investment, especially for small output, but the fineness cannot be subdivided due to the short drying time, which may result in unstable drying effect, easy blocking, unreliable operation, mismatching with rear equipment and investment and energy waste.

In addition, wood chips can also be dried by cylinders and air flow. However, most cylinder dryers are single-cylinder dryers, with large floor area, poor heat retaining, and uneven distribution of wood chip, and there is no drying device for fine and coarse materials, thus causing leading to frequent instability. The most common problem is that the final moisture cannot be controlled, either too dry or too wet. Therefore, the subsequent process cannot be started normally and the discharging quality is unstable. Moreover, since wood chips include a small amount of stones and nails, the processing equipment may be damaged easily if the quality is not good enough and result in fire and explosion.
